Delta State University, Abraka - Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following Regular Diploma Programmes of the Institute of Education, Delta State University, Abraka.

Duration of Courses
  • The Diploma course will be for two academic years (Four Semesters).
Admission Requirements
General Requirements:
  • Applicants must possess at least Four (4) credits at not more than two sittings in the SSCE/NECO or its equivalent. Candidates are also expected to fulfil the specific Departmental Requirements for their various courses of choice
Diploma in Business Education:
  • A minimum of Four credits in the GCE/O'Level, SSCE, NECO, WASC, including English Language, Mathematics, Economics or Commerce and one other subject at not more than two sittings.
  • Associate Certificate in Education/Accounting/Business Administration/Marketing/Secretarial Studies awarded by an approved Institute of Higher Learning.
Diploma in Hotel and Catering Management Education:
  • Minimum of Four credits in the GCE/O'Level, SSCE, NECO, WASC, including English Language, one of Biology/Agricultural Science, Health Science and any two of Economics, Geography, Food and Nutrition, Home Management, General Science. In addition, candidates are expected to possess a minimum of P7 or P8 in Mathematics and Chemistry at not more than two sittings.
  • TC II with at least Merit passes in (4) subjects as required in (a) above and passes in Mathematics and General Science.
Diploma in Library Science Education:
  • A minimum of Four credits in the GCE/O'Level, SSCE, NECO, WASC O' Level, including English Language, at not more than two sittings.
  • A minimum of (4) Merits in TC II, including English Language.
  • Any other equivalent qualification acceptable to Senate as in (a) and (b) above.
Diploma in Nursery and Primary Education:
  • A minimum of four (4) credits in the GCE/O'Level, SSCE, NECO, WASC O'Level, including English Language at not more than two sittings.
  • A minimum of four (4) Merits in TC II, including English Language.
  • Any other equivalent qualification acceptable to Senate as in (a) and (b) above.
Diploma in Integrated Science Education:
  • A minimum of Four (4) credits in the GCE/O'Level, SSCE, NECO, WASC O'Level, including Mathematics and any two of the following Science subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Agricultural Science, Home Economics, Food and Nutrition, with at least a pass in English Language at not more than two sittings.
  • A minimum of four (4) Merits in TC II in the relevant Science subjects as indicated in (a) above. Merit in Arithmetic processes would be considered a substitute for Mathematics.
Diploma in Physical and Health Education:
  • A minimum of Four (4) credits in the GCE/O'Level, SSCE, NECO, WASC O'Level, including English Language and Biology or Health Science at not more than two sittings.
  • A minimum of four (4) Merits in TC II, including English Language and Physical Education.
  • Holders of Associateship Certificates in Education.
  • Candidates who are deficient in English Language but have the required minimum of four (4) credits in GCE/O'Level, SSCE, NECO, WASC or Merits in TC II but must be recognized current state and or national Sportsmen or Women with evidence of sports performance may be considered.
Diploma in Secretarial Studies Education:
  • A minimum of four (4) credits in the GCE/O'Level, SSCE, NEC0, WASC , O/Level, including Language, Economics or Commerce and two other subjects at not more than two sittings.
  • Associateship Certificate in Education/Accounting/Business Administration/Secretarial Studies awarded by an approved Institute of Higher Learning.
Diploma in Mathematics Education:
  • A minimum of four (4) credits in the GCE/O'Level, SSCE, NECO, WASC or equivalent including Mathematics, with at least a pass in English Language at not more than two sittings.
Diploma in Biology Education:
  • A minimum of Four (4) credits in the GCE/O'Level, SSCE, NECO, WASC or equivalent, including Mathematics and Biology, with at least a pass in English Language at not more than two sittings.
Diploma in Chemistry Education:
  • A minimum of four (4) credits in the GCE/O'Level, SSCE, NECO, WASC or equivalent, including Mathematics and Chemistry, with at least a pass in English Language at not more than two sittings.
Diploma in Physics Education:
  • A minimum of Four (4) credits in the GCE/O'Level, SSCE, NECO, WASC or equivalent, including Mathematics and Biology, with at least a pass in English Language at not more than two sittings.
Diploma in Health, Safety and Environmental Education:
  • A minimum of Four (4) credits in the GCE/O'Level, SSCE, NECO, WASC O'Level, including English Language and one Science subject from Biology/Health Science, Agricultural Science, Chemistry and Physics and two (2) other subjects at not more than two sittings.
Diploma in Computer Science Education:
  • A minimum of Four (4) credits in the GCE/O'Level, SSCE, NECO, WASC or equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics and any other two (2) Science subjects at not more than two sittings.
  • A minimum of Four (4) Merits in TC II, including English Language and Mathematics and any other two (2) Science subjects.
Diploma in Early Childhood Education:
  • A minimum of four (4) credits in the GCE/O'Level, SSCE, NECO, WASC O'Level, including English Language at not more than two sittings.
  • A minimum of four (4) Merits in TC II, including English Language.
  • Any other equivalent qualification acceptable to Senate as in (a) and (b) above.

b.) Candidates should, with the pin for payment access and complete the Delta State University, Abraka, 2016/2017 Diploma form online at http://www.delsuonline.com  with their recent colour passport-sized photograph scanned to the JPEG format and not more than 20kb in size.
  • Candidates are advised to use virtual pin immediately after payment as the pin will be invalid after six (6) hours of generation.
  • Candidates are advised to read the instructions on the front page of the website before completing the form.
  • Candidates are required to come to the examination venue with the following:
    • A copy of the Print-out of completed online confirmation of application.
    • Two recent passport-sized colour photographs with the full names of candidates and signature on the reversed side of the photograph.
    • Four-figure table (where applicable).
    • Biro, HB Pencil and Eraser.
Note:
  • Candidates are to log in ONLY the courses they chose for the Diploma programme.

  • Parents, guardians and well-wishers will not be allowed to stay around the venue of the examination.
