Job Title: Site Monitor/Clerk of Work

Locations:
Owu-ljebu and Ijebu-Ode, Ogun

Profile
  • The overview of the role is to constantly supervise the construction works in progress to ensure that the contractors and anyone else employed on the works complies with the general Terms of the Contract. In this regard, he/she will be responsible to SOS Children’s Villages’ Regional Construction Project Manager/Consultant, and be fully acquainted with all the requirements of the Contract, the drawing, documents that have been issued to the Contractor and other Specialist Sub-Contractors to ensure that the
  • requirements are carried out in detail and in the interest of the Client.
Key Responsibilities
  • Keep constant records and watch on the quality of all materials, availability of drawings and relevant information on site prior to the building operations, the standard and accuracy of the workmanship, examine all drawings, specifications, Bills of Quantities, etc and refer any discrepancies and possible variations to his/her supervisor promptly.
  • Visit the yards and workshops of the contractor and/or sub-contractors when necessary to inspect materials being prepared for incorporation in the contract and assist in the resolution of queries and explanation of details to the Contractor as well as endorse day-work sheets in respect of work hours and materials used.
  • Ensure safety of work areas and keep records of all accidents, near accidents and any other incidences that may threaten the health, life, safety and welfare of the workers and visitors.
  • Under the direction of the Project Consultant, ensure co-ordination of the progress of the building works.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years’ experience in similar position/assignment
  • Degree in Civil Engineering from a reputable University
  • Proven skills in use of Micro soft Office, CAD software, works supervision and works accountancy.
