Adexen Recruitment Agency is mandated by a large Oil & Gas Group to recruit a Leading Planning Engineer for its operations in Nigeria.

Job Description
  • Develop and ensure structured, consistent and accurate project planning, scheduling and reporting for significant fabrication facilities projects.
  • Maximise the use and integration of planning, scheduling and reporting systems.
  • Responsibility for the planning engineers, planners and project controls staff.
  • Report to :Senior Project Controls Manager 
Responsibilities
  • Develops & maintains Project planning tools for tracking and analysis of project progress against agreed baseline schedules. (These tools will include standard S-curves, manpower histograms and detailed progress measurement per activity per discipline. Actual data (man-hours, percentage complete) is compared to baseline data and analysis in order to provide guidance to the project team as to how the project is doing from a schedule point of view.)
  • A proactive approach is required when seeking solutions to the day to day problems that may occur during the course of the project. This includes: 1. Project Control System for Engineering and procurement progress tracking:  2. Project Control System for Construction Contractor Progress Tracking: Contractor detailed schedules, Construction
  • Progress Measure and Reporting System. Provide Project / Construction Engineers support during proposals/bid period for engineering / construction work.
  • Be a part of Project Controls Department project team for evaluation engineering / construction proposals. Develop & maintain historical data of engineering / construction norms (man-hours/cost) for use in bid proposals and future bench marking initiatives.
  • Coordinate the day to day business of planning, scheduling and reporting within the Company.
  • Assist in the supervision and mentoring of the planning team in their development and training.
  • Coordinate and supervise the job duties carried out by the Planning team
  • Coordinate development, update and maintenance of detailed plans for the Company work-scope to include all required phases of work.
  • Assist and facilitate risk management workshops as required
  • Any duties as deemed reasonable within the associated envelope of the individual’s technical capability.

  • Champion methodologies with creation of supporting procedures.
  • Maximise the use and integration of planning, scheduling and reporting systems.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum 12 years of facilities engineering experience in a planning role within the Oil & Gas industry – 5 years of which in a senior role.
  • Extensive experience in Primavera and schedule management systems Have demonstrable experience in building integrated systems - i.e. implementing electronic interfaces between client and contractor systems.
  • Significant experience of recovery planning with inclusion of change management workscopes.
  • MS Project, Power Point, and MS Office. - must be able to provide direction, organize and prioritize the team work, train the work team members. -develop strong collaboration, and have mentoring and leadership skills and practices.
  • Communication skills.
  • Mature people skills used in an authoritative manner whilst gaining the respect of the project team.
  • Able to multi task often in a less than perfect working environment
