Adexen Recruitment Agency is mandated by a leading Oil & Gas group to recruit its General Manager (Operations) for its operations in Nigeria

Job description
The General Manager (Operations) will be responsible for the integrated project management and life cycle execution of all projects from bidding to closure ensuring client satisfaction with the Company’s delivery metrics and obtaining for the Company a successful commercial outcome. He/she is to report to the Managing Director

Responsibilities
The responsibilities for this office shall include but is not limited to the following:
  • The General Manager (Operations) is responsible for managements of the engineering functions to ensure compliance with both client and national standards
  • Management of both internal and external technical interfaces
  • Definition of the scope for external contraction and in house execution for all phases of the work
  • Management of the project control functions (planning, costing and project reporting)
  • Management of Construction Division and associated personnel
  • Management of work pack and engineering support teams including completion management
  • Assumption of full responsibility for project planning including staffing, schedule, job cost break down, work measurement system, invoicing format and document flow and control
  • Ensuring that all cost estimates for each designed project are accurate
  • Fostering of healthy relationships with all clients
  • Review of contract details ensuring such are understood and adhered by all members of the project team
  • Design and implementation of efficient systems for timely and accurate project documentation including, billings, change and information requests, schedules, meetings, transmittals and work measurements
  • Interfacing with the Project Engineer and Operations manager as required to review the constructability of design with the intent of meeting or exceeding project quality, cost and schedule commitments
  • Management of key project positions as required
  • To establish, organise, direct the efforts of the project team ensuring the implementation of standard policies and methods

Qualifications and Experience
  • Must have a professional Engineering status within a recognised professional body
  • Must have extensive experience in Oil and Gas facilities projects execution and has operated a senior level within client organisation or EPCM organisation with specific accountabilities in project execution in upstream oil and gas industry
  • Must demonstrate Engineering project management competence with specific accountability for delivery of engineering, planning, reporting, bidding, cost estimation and control, risk management, contract delivery and management of engineering and other sub-contractors and change management
  • Must be able to demonstrate high delivery standards in management of Quality Assurance and HSE
  • Must have experience in International based assignments
  • Must have management exposure in all project-engineering phases from detailed engineering to start up preferably with fabrication yard and construction experience
  • Must be able to mentor other Nationals and local staff effectively
  • Must have extensive experience in EPC industry in a business facing role
  • Must be able to produce and interpret financial information management information, providing content and insight to facilitate decision making, creating efficiencies and solving complex problems
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a track record of building relationships and communication across a diverse group of cross-functional teams and cultures to deliver targeted performance
