Job Title: Heads of Department Risk Management

Location:

Job Description
  • The position will be responsible for identifying, assessing and evaluating the organizations risks to enable the execution of our enterprise risk management strategy and also developing implementable risk responses in a cost-effective manner, in line with business objectives.
Key Performance Areas
Risk Identification:
  • Collect information and review documentation to ensure that risk scenarios are continuously identified and evaluated.
  • Identify potential threats and vulnerabilities for business processes and supporting capabilities to assist in the evaluation of enterprise risk.
  • Assemble risk scenarios to estimate the likelihood and impact of significant events to the organization.
  • Analyze risk scenarios to determine their impact on business objectives.
  • Correlate identified risk scenarios to relevant business processes to assist in identifying risk ownership.
Risk Response:
  • Identify and evaluate risk response options and provide management with information to enable risk response decisions.
  • Review risk responses with the relevant stakeholders for validation of efficiency effectiveness and economy.
  • Apply risk criteria to assist in the development of the risk profile for management approval.
  • Assist in the development of risk response action plans to address risk factors identified in the organizational risk profile.
  • Develop a risk awareness program and conduct training to ensure that stakeholders understand risk and contribute to the risk management process and to promote a risk-aware culture.
  • Validate risk appetite and tolerance with senior leadership and key stakeholders to ensure alignment.
Risk Monitoring, Reporting
  • Maintain a risk register and communicate information to the relevant stakeholders to ensure the continued effectiveness of the enterprises risk management strategy,
  • Preparation of Risk reports on monthly and quarterly basis to the Board and the Commission.
  • Collect and validate data that measure key risk indicators (KRI5) to monitor and communicate their status to assist relevant stakeholders in their decision-making process.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
  • The candidate must possesses a minimum educational qualification of first degree or its equivalent in addition to. professional qualification in Accounting, Actuarial Science, Auditing, Finance, Economics, Commerce, Law, or in any other numerate or semi numerate field.
  • MBA/M.Sc/MA is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 12 -15 years post qualification work experience.
  • Proven track record of formulating and implementing risk management strategies.
  • Experience in the financial/banking/Pension industry is preferred.
  • Must have a sound business judgement with the ability to proactively look at markets, regulatory trends and identify existing and emerging Risk issues.
  • Experience in an Audit-related function at middle management level.
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to manage market, liquidity and enterprise Risk.
  • Deep understanding of Risk management trends in the Pensions industry.
  • Experience of undertaking internal audits.
  • Clear understanding and knowledge of the business objectives and processes of various functions with the PFA.
  • Deep understanding of Enterprise risk management strategies, techniques and reporting applications
  • Proven track record in the effective leadership and motivation of staff
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Access, VISIQ and PowerPoint.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting concepts, principles and best practices.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work within a small team environment with diverse grou staff, and clients.
  • A high level of written and verbal communication skills gain within a quality assurance environment
