Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, formerly Federal University of Agriculture, Umudike, was established as a specialized University by the Federal Government of Nigeria via Act No 48 of 2nd November 1992. It began formal activities in My 1993 with the appointment of the first Governing Council and Vice-Chancellor.

Job Description
  • The post of the Registrar of the University will soon be vacant Applications are therefore invited from suitably qualified candidates.
Duties
  • The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administrative work of the university, except as regards matters for which the Bursar is responsible.
  • Importantly, the Registrar is also the Secretary to Council, Senate, Congregation and Convoction.
The Candidate
  • Candidates for the post must have a good First Degree, preferably in the Humanities, Social Sciences and related disciplines.
  • Possession of a higher degree(s) will be an added advantage.
  • Such candidates must have a minimum of twenty (20) years post qualification cognate experience most of which must be in a University or other Tertiary Institution and must not be below the rank of a Deputy Registrar.
  • Candidates must not only be ICT compliant but must also demonstrate capacity to involove and integrate ICT skills in normal University Administrative and Management functions.
  • Applicants would be expected to show dynamism and flexibility in organizing and managing the human resources component of the administrative arm of the Institution in order to provide the needed strategic support for the achievement of the University's mandate.
  • Candidates for the post must be such that they would not exceed the gazette retirement age before the end of the five-year tenure.

  • These are the same in the Federal Public Service and as applicable to Nigerian Federal Universities.
