A new joint venture with foreign partner/Investor, has necessitated the recruitment of self-motivated and experience individuals with proven performance track record and excellent reference for a new Port/Terminal operation in Lagos State, in the capacity below:

Job Title: Chef

Location: Lagos

Job Description
  • Ideal candidate for this position must be well vast in both local and international cuisine.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Must be able to supervise, coordinate and direct all activities in the kitchen;
  • Estimate food consumption arid requisition.
  • Receive and examine foodstuffs and supplies to ensure quality and quantity meet the established standards and specifications.
  • Select and develop recipes based on type of food to be prepared and applying personal knowledge and experience in food preparations.
  • Supervise personnel engaged in preparing, cooking and serving food items.
  • Cook or otherwise prepare food according to recipe
  • Determine best way foods should be presented and create decorative food displays.
  • Determine production schedules to ensure timely delivery of services
  • Estimate amount of cost required for food ingredients
  • Inspect supplies, equipment and work areas to ensure conformance with standards
  • Monitor sanitation practice to ensure standards regulations are followed
  • Prepare and cook food of all types, either on a regular basis or for special guest or functions.
  • Coordinate planning, budgeting and purchasing for all food items
  • In addition to preparing African local dishes, must be able to adapt in preparing dishes such as Chinese, Lebanese, French and Spanish
Qualification and Experience
  • Must be professionally sound
  • Must have at least 10 years working experience as a Chef in a world class cuisine
  • Must be time flexible and willing to work for extensive hours (such as night, early morning, weekends and public holidays).
  • Must be able to communicate in English
  • Ideal candidate must be able to work calmly, stay organized and be effective under pressure
  • Must be able to take directions well from others
  • Must be a graduate from recognized catering school, e.g. City and Guilds of London or its equivalent.
  • Can be a Nigerian or expatriate with first class references.
