The Federal Government yesterday sacked no fewer than nine directors at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

The sack order, The Guardian learnt, was not unconnected with the restructuring exercise the Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has embarked upon since assumption of office.

Recall that heads of sister agencies like Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nigerian Meteorological Services (NIMET), Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) and Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) were recently replaced, even as several general managers were demoted several steps in Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

Yesterday’s matching order, however, caught the affected directors unawares. All the directors were political appointees.

It was gathered that the Director General of the NCAA, Muhtar Usman, conveyed the sack message to the affected directors in a meeting at the agency’s headquarters at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos.

The Guardian learnt that Usman had called for a meeting with all the directors to break the news of their disengagement to them.
