Job Title: Accountant
Job Description
1.) Cheque Payment Vouchers
- Going through cheque payment vouchers to verify back up documents are correct before MD’s signature. Where necessary follow up with the shops on the back up documents.
- Posting of cheque payment vouchers with complete back up
- Posting of Petty Cash Vouchers with back up (Primarily the Accounts Supervisor will do this)
2.) Tax Matters
- Calculation, processing and payment of the following tax payments
- VAT on our sales – Liaising with our Auditors
- Payment of VAT charged by our service providers. (Auditors etc)
- PAYE - Obtaining receipts, tax clearance certificates for staff
- Corporate Income Tax- Liaising with our auditors on the payments
- Sending copies of the tax payments to the each outlet as it pertains to them especially VAT so that their records are updated when Tax authorities visit.
- Collection of Withholding tax receipts from clients
- Deduction and remittance of withholding tax from invoices of service providers
3.) Accounting Tasks/Funds Management
- Review Petty cash reimbursement requests from the outlets and Head Office
- Maintaining the schedule of bank balances for the three banks daily
- Updating the pending bills file and reviewing with MD
- Collect bank deposit reports from the outlets and monitor staff compliance to ensure this report is accurate as it is the input for bank reconciliation.
- When the need arises, go round the outlets to ensure that proper entries are being made on the POS
- Carrying out Monthly Bank reconciliation and following up on discrepancies with the shop staff and Management
- Tracking bank charges and following up on wrong deductions from the bank
- Run cash flow projection when required
- Prepare Management Accounts with the software reports when required especially when processing company loan applications
Requirements
- B.Sc. / HND in Accounting (Qualified Accountant ICAN Membership
- Understand inventory control and management
- Design and implement internal control system
- Must have auditing experience or capability
- Must have at least 4 - 6 years working experience
- Prepare accounting source documents with the use of accounting package especially Reflex which is customized for the Organization
- Prepare ledger accounts to final accounts for Management use and External Auditors use
- Possess analytical skills, communication skills and give prompt feedback
- Carry out statutory remittances
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Must be hardworking and honest
- Must reside in Obalende, Lagos Island, Victoria Island , Ajah and its environment
