Malaria Consortium (MC) works to improve lives in Africa and Asia through sustainable, evidence-based programmes that combat targeted diseases and promote child and maternal health.

Malaria Consortium has been in operations in Nigeria since 2008 to fully establish its long-term commitment. It now seeks to recruit suitably qualified candidates in the position below:

Job Title: Country Operations Manager (COM)

Location: Abuja

Job Description / Responsibilities
  • The Country Operations Manager (COM) will to be a member of the Country Management Team (CMT) to identify areas of operational improvement and strategy development.
  • The Country Operations Manager will be operationally located in the country office, Abuja.
  • S/he will be responsible for overseeing and organising general operations and will implement and institutionalize Malaria Consortium’s standard policies on supply chain, facility management, safety and security issues.
  • The COM will also ensure upgrade and improvements in these areas.
Other Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Effective management of MC’s supply chain processes; timely delivery of goods and services, emphasis on value for money initiatives, warehouse inventory management and fleet operations efficiency;
  • Proper and efficient facility, management of MC’s assets, external service providers, IT equipment’s and consumables
  • Proper management of operational costs and budget as it relates to supporting field managers' costs across all MC states;
  • Prepare periodic progress reports on the operations unit and quarterly reports on procurement, inventory and operational related portfolio;
  • Collaborate with the CM team in providing strategic inputs in periods of organizational changes such as expansion, downsizing, closing operations or creating new operations;
Qualifications
  • The preferred candidate must be a supply chain leader across all disciplines including planning, procurement, transportation, fleet, warehousing and distribution, within regional or national environment.
  • S/he must also be experienced in security and safety management in diverse operating environments including the North-Eastern part of Nigeria,
  • The candidate should have at least 6-8 years’ experience working in an international NGO and have a good knowledge of global health sector programmes (USAID, DFID, UNITAID, I3MGF, Global Fund, EU) policies and procedures regards to procurement, grant and financial management.
  • The candidate should be proficient in the use of Microsoft office packages especially MS Excel and other relevant database tools.
Terms and Conditions of Employment
The appointment term will be for a renewable period of up to 24 months, with an initial 3 months’ probationary period.
