Job Title: Power Plant Operator

Location: Lagos
Responsibilities
- Responsibe for the safety and operations of the power plant, the switchyard and related control structures.
- Maintain power plant operating logs and prepare power generation and transmission equipment operating reports
- Operate power plant auxiliary systems such as telephone and radio communication systems, station battery, lighting systems, HVAC systems etc
- Monitor power plant equipment and indicators to evaluate performance or detect problems
- Take regulatory action based on readings from charts, meters and gauges at established intervals
- Examine and test electrical power distribution machinery and equipment using appropriate testing tools
- Inspect records or log book entries and communicate with relevant plant personnel to assess equipment performance
- Communicate with systems operators to regulate and coordinate line voltages and transmission loads and frequencies
- Monitor and control switchboard gauges to determine that electrical power distribution meets specifications
- Control generator output to match the phase, frequency, or voltage of electricity supplied to panels
- Receive outage calls and request necessary personnel during power outages or emergencies
- Perform routine equipment maintenance
Requirements
- Minimum of OND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years experience in power plant or similar operation
- Training in Industrial Safety and Fire-fighting is an added advantage
