Biodiversity Preservation Center (BPC), a Non- Governmental Organization (NGO), was established in 1996 and incorporated under the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria (CAC) since 2003, has been collaborating with identified communities and programs to stem the ugly trend of forest loss and encourage restoration.

Selected communities that still have undestroyed natural forests have been identified and a number of targeted programs put in place with the aim of creating opportunities for the people to fully understand and appreciate the problems resulting from the habitat destruction. On the other hand, the people are empowered to participate in biodiversity preservation and at the same time given the right orientation on how to sustainably utilize NTFPs for their livelihood and economic needs.
