Job Title: Team Lead, Special Projects

Location: Abuja

Job Description
  • The role of Team Lead Special Projects will report to the Head Projects, the holder will be responsible for planning, budgeting, overseeing and documenting all aspects of project assigned to the Unit.
  • The job holder will work closely with functional management to make sure that the scope and direction of each project is on schedule and meets the business objectives specified
Key Responsibilities / Roles
  • Apply project management best practices to coordinate the entire lifecycle and ensure successful delivery of all the special project portfolio targeted at reducing ATC&C losses
  • Deploy project management specific techniques to guide the project managers/teams currently implementing the comprehensive metering projects and the enumeration projects to achieve the projects’ objectives
  • Harmonize strategic special projects with Customer Impact Unit (CIU) to achieve the company vision and enhance customer satisfaction
  • Design and operationalize an effective process flow for project control, monitoring and reporting
  • Develop project documentation process to enhance real-time archival reference and lessons learned Monitor project risks and constraints (scope/time/cost) and unsure efficient project resources allocation to deliver targeted project outcomes to achieve fitness-for-use purposes.
  • Conduct periodic project group analytical workshops and meetings to optimize project resources and ensure cross-functional knowledge sharing
  • To contribute to AEDC commitment in building a learning organization
  • Conduct periodic site visits to monitor, control and manage earned values on expended project resources
  • Proactively manage project stakeholders, most especially external vendors to ensure strict adherence to contractual terms of references (TORs) between AEDC and project vendors.
  • Work with the special projects team, monitor and report employees KPIs and ensure the right project work environment
  • Proactively manage project changes and realign project lifecycle to forestall schedule delay and cost overrun.
  • Collaborate with the regional and Area offices to ensure seamless implementation of special projects in the regions/area offices
  • Mentor and coach PMO Special Project team members and align them with the company values and PMO mandates
  • Develop business case on special projects, highlight cost/benefits for the Executive Managers
  • Perform other assigned duties by Head, PMO.
Education, Experience and Technical Skills
  • A First Degree in any discipline( Engineering, Project Management will be added advantage)
  • Minimum 7 years of experience, with at least five years managing increasingly complex projects in a technical environment.
  • Project Management Certification will be essential
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently toward goals in a complex, diverse environment with multiple and changing demands
  • Good grasp of Project Management concept and processes will be added advantage
  • Demonstrated aptitude for effective leadership of teams
  • Fair Knowledge of the Utility services Operations
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Working Knowledge of Project Management Application(s)
