Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, yesterday, announced that he has pardoned and lifted the suspension of 2,000 local government workers over alleged irregularities.

Okorocha stated this in a release issued to newsmen in Owerri, through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo. The release was sequel to the rumour that Okorocha’s government had sacked over 2000 local government workers in the state.

As captured by Onwuemeodo’s release, “This is to inform the people of the state and the general public that the state governor, in his usual compassionate manner, has pardoned and also announced the lifting of the suspension order on about two thousand local government workers across the state.

“The governor also directed for the immediate payment of their five months salary arrears, from January to May, 2017.”
