IITA is an international non-profit research-for-development (R4D) organization created in 1967, governed by a Board of Trustees, and supported primarily by the Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). We are currently recruiting for the position below
Job Position: Research Supervisor (AfricaRice)
Location: Ibadan, Nigeria
Employment Status: (2-year renewable contract)
Responsibilities
- Characterize rice germplasm for tolerance to several stresses
- Establish and manage lowland rice breeding trials
- Inter and intra specific hybridization of rice to generate stress tolerant segregating population
- Collect, collate and analyze research data
- Collect leaf samples for DNA extraction
- Processing and distribution of seed of breeding lines to NARS and other collaborators
- General supervision of field Staff
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills
- BSc/HND Crop Management, Agronomy or General Agriculture.
- Minimum of 3 years experience of research operation in a research Institution will be an added advantage.
- Be proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point)
- Have good command of English language
- Have the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Have the ability to work in a multi- cultural, multi ethnic and religious environment
- Have the ability to multitask and work effectively within strict deadlines.
