IITA is an international non-profit research-for-development (R4D) organization created in 1967, governed by a Board of Trustees, and supported primarily by the Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). Our R4D is anchored on the development needs of sub-Saharan Africa. We develop agricultural solutions with our partners to tackle hunger and poverty by reducing producer and consumer risks, enhancing crop quality and productivity, and generating wealth from agriculture. We are currently recruiting for the position below

Job Position: Finance and Admin Officer

Location: Lokoja, Kogi
Employment Status: (2-year renewable contract)

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the effective carrying out of project management function
  • Follow up with states supervisor and other partners to ensure field reports are submitted in timely manner
  • Develop and maintain an efficient filing system and database on project activities and stakeholders
  • Assist in managing projects portfolios with clear project operational guidelines
  • Track and monitor project expenditures and preparing monthly project reports
  • Prepare and review projects financial statement for the Project Manager
  • Assist with the preparation of financial reports of donors, and ensuring that all projects account are fully reconciled with the records of the Finance Office
  • Work with other team members and contributing to the preparation of funding proposals and annual technical reports.
  • Liaise with other IITA units (Finance Office, Project Administration Office) on issues relating to project grants management
  • Assume responsibility for administrative functions, such as hosting visitors, responding to inquiries, planning stakeholders workshop/meetings, drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments, and coordinating travel arrangements
  • Carrying out other duties related to the projects administrative and financial management as may be determined by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills
  • B.Sc Accounting/Business Management. At least ICAN PE II would be added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in a related role in a large organization.
  • The ideal candidate must possess:
  • Good understanding of budgeting and financial management procedures
  • Excellent computer skills with good grasp of spreadsheets, word processing and other MS office applications, and ability to learn new applications quickly
  • Excellent English reporting, writing and oral communication skills
  • Strong ability to co-ordinate, prioritize and organize workload; take initiative and work under pressure
  • Good team spirit and also participate as a team member in accomplishment of duties.
