The Population Council is an international, non-profit, non-governmental institution that seeks to improve the well-being and reproductive health of current and future generations around the world and help achieve a humane, equitable and sustainable balance between people and resources. The Population Council has worked in collaboration with a very broad range of Nigerian institutions. The Council's program includes the design and testing of innovative HIV & AIDS and Reproductive Health approaches and policy and program relevant research, training, and institutional strengthening, and is supported by a range of donors.

Due to expansion of its activities, the Council is seeking qualified individuals to fill the following positions in its Abuja office:

Job Title: Health Economist
 
The successful candidate will manage the design of operations research activities in the area of health economics and programme efficacy. through the development of research questions and designs, construction of questionnaire instruments and databases for data archiving, oversee field work, and conduct data cleaning and analysis. He/she will develop programmatic and advocacy strategies using
evidence-base generated by the project activity and research; provide clear summaries of findings for
Specialist and non-specialist audiences.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must have:

1. Level of Education: Relevant degree(s) in Health Economics. an MPH gives added advantage
2. Language Requirements - English Exemplary
3. Level of IT Expertise Required - excellent quantitative and computational skills
4. Firm written expression (scientific and commercial)
5. Willingness to travel within the country and across the region on a regular basis.
6. Required previous experience - 5 Years working in health related development programs
7. High degree of independence. creativity and commitment
