GE is recruiting to fill the below position of:

Job Position: Customs Leader - Sub Saharan Africa

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Role Summary/Purpose:
The role will demonstrate accountability for functional (Center of excellence),business and broad company objectives.You will be expected to integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. Full alignment with Finance, Supply Chain and other functions within the organization. Location: Kenya, Nigeria or South Africa.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Direct functional area of business, translate concepts, develop strategy and implement change.
  • Ensure that shipments meet all applicable laws to facilitate the import and export of goods.
  • Plan, execute, and manage the customs function across SSA.
  • Act as the customs leadership focal point for all customs matters in SSA for the businesses.
  • Develop and implement standardized processes and strategies across platforms and customers.
  • Provide advice to other functional areas and demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals/programs/processes.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
  • 10 years of experience in an import/export or logistics role.
  • Prior similar experience leading a complex customs function within Sub-Sahara Africa region.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
  • Ability to work in a team environment with strong project management skills
  • Has the experience or expertise to solve problems.
  • Six Sigma training is preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to develop and execute objectives for self and others.
  • Ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
