The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) is a higher education institution engaged in imparting knowledge, skills and learning to students using specialized facilities and a multi-disciplinary approach. It is a centre of excellence for serious innovative research and development for the aerospace, aeronautical, aviation and allied industries/disciplines.

One of the key components of AFIT's approach to excellence is the employment of highly skilled and motivated staff to deliver first class education to its students. In this regard, applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill a number of vacancies at the Institute for both teaching and non-teaching staff.

Academic Programmes

Candidates seeking employment at AFIT should possess appropriate skill levels in aerospace/aeronautical engineering, electrical/electronics engineering, communication engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering and Non Destructive Testing. The qualifications must be in disciplines consistent with the programmes undertaken at the Institute and possession of an aircraft maintenance engineers' license will be an added advantage.

AFIT is recruiting for the following positions below:

A) Teaching Staff
The existing vacancies for teaching staff at the Institute include positions for Senior Lecturer, Lecturer I, Lecturer II and Assistant Lecturer. The qualifications and requirements for the various vacant positions are detailed below:

1.) Senior Lecturer

Requirements
  • Minimum of a higher degree such as doctorate or its equivalent.
  • Minimum of 8 years of teaching, research and/or professional experience in a university or an institution of university status or a comparable institution.
  • He/she should show evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and conferences.
  • He/she should have a research track record and also demonstrate evidence of supervision of research work of scholars up to doctorate level.
  • He/she should demonstrate strong potential for research and scholarly activities.
  • Membership of international professional associations.
  • He/she should demonstrate evidence for leadership in administrative responsibilities.
  • He/she should show evidence of consultancy activities.
  • Candidates' experience in working with interdisciplinary groups is an added advantage.
Remuneration
  • CONPCASS 11 - N1,927,668-2,726,028 PA.
2.) Lecturer I

Requirements
  • Minimum of a higher degree such as doctorate or its equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 years of teaching, research and/or professional experience in a university or an institution of university status or a comparable institution.
  • He/she should show evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and conferences.
  • He/she should have a research track record and also demonstrate evidence of supervision of research work of scholars up to masters degree level.
  • He/she should demonstrate strong potential for research and scholarly activities.
  • Membership of international professional associations.
  • He/she should show evidence of consultancy activities. Candidates'experience in working with interdisciplinary groups is an added advantage.
  • Any additional teaching qualification will be an added advantage.

3.) Lecturer II

Requirements
  • Minimum of a higher degree such as doctorate or its equivalent.
  • Minimum of 4 years of teaching, research and/or professional experience in a university or an institution of university status or a comparable institution.
  • He/she should show evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and conferences.
  • He/she should have a research track record and also demonstrate evidence of supervision of research work of scholars at undergraduate level.
  • He/she should demonstrate potential for research and scholarly activities.
  • Membership of international professional associations.
  • He/she should show evidence of consultancy activities. Candidates' experience in working with interdisciplinary groups is an added advantage.
  • Any additional teaching qualification will be an added advantage.

4.) Assistant Lecturer

Requirements
  • Minimum of masters degree in relevant areas.
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching, research and/or professional experience in a university or an institution of university status or a comparable institution.
  • He/she should show evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and conferences.
  • He/she should demonstrate potential for research and scholarly activities.
Remuneration
  • CONPCASS 06 - N960,000.00 - 1,440,000.00 PA.
B) Other Academic Staff
The existing vacancies for other academic staff at AFIT include positions for the Director of Research and Development (DR&D), Chief Technologist, Assistant Chief Technologist, Principal Technologist, Senior Technologist, Technologist I and Technologist II. Requirements
  • Minimum of a higher degree such as doctorate or its equivalent.
  • Minimum of 8 years of teaching, research and/or professional experience in a university or an institution of university status or a comparable institution.

  • He/she should have a research track record and also demonstrate evidence of supervision of research work of scholars up to doctorate level.
  • He/she should demonstrate strong potential for research and scholarly activities.

  • He/she should have strong potential to attract significant research income.
  • He/she should show evidence of consultancy activities. Candidates' experience in working with interdisciplinary groups is an added advantage.

6.) Chief Technologist

Requirements
  • Minimum of higher degree such as M.Sc or its equivalent.
  • Minimum of 15 years cognate working experience.
  • Fellowship of an appropriate body such as the Nigerian Institute of Science and Technology or the Institute of Science and Technology.
  • He/she should demonstrate evidence for leadership in administration responsibilities.
  • Any additional relevant qualification will be an added advantage.

7.) Assistant Chief Technologist

Requirements
  • Minimum of higher degree such as M.Sc or its equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years cognate working experience.

  • He/she should demonstrate evidence for leadership in administration responsibilities.

8.) Principal Technologist

Requirements
  • Minimum of higher degree such as M.Sc or its equivalent.
  • Minimum of 7 years cognate working experience.

  • He/she should demonstrate evidence for leadership in administration responsibilities.

9.) Senior Technologist

Requirements

10.) Technologist I / Technologist II

Requirements
  • Minimum of higher degree such as B.Sc, HND or its equivalent.
  • Candidates for the post of Technologist II must not have less than 2 years cognate working experience.
  • Membership of an appropriate body such as the Nigerian Institute of Science and Technology or the Institute of Science and Technology.
  • Any additional relevant qualification will be an added advantage.
