Job Title: Area Project Manager

Location:
Bade, Yobe

Job Summary
  • The Area Manager will be based in Bade, Yobe State and report to the Field Coordinator.
  • He/she will be responsible for the proper implementation and completion of project throughout its different phases as well as the appropriate management of its specific scope, schedule, resources, quality, risks, representation, coordination and contractual requirements.
Task and Responsibilities
  • Finalizing and managing the update and implementation of the project(s) Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP).
  • Developing detailed monthly/weekly implementation plans for your staff in order to achieve the activities in the PIP.
  • Managing the Project(s) Scope Documents (PSDs) such as Project Procurement plan, Monitoring and evaluation plan, Work Breakdown Structure, etc. as well as ensuring regular update of these documents in order to maintain a strong record of the project(s).
  • Overseeing the implementation of project(s) as per donor regulations with periodic field visits to other project(s) to strengthen the mission's information and best practice sharing; and encourage the development of innovative approach.
  • Staying abreast of, and manage field operations as to the prevailing security, cultural and social situation under the guidance of the field coordinator.
  • Ensuring all project(s) staff are provided with a full induction and are briefed on all relevant components of the project(s).
  • Identifying need based training and liaising with HR team to develop, plan and implement relevant training plans for each team member.
  • Motivating, coordinating and supervising the project team, providing continuous organizational support to staff and conducting regular field visits.
  • Developing a data collection and entry plan complete with tools and timeline integrated into the PSDs and PIPs in line with the mission's M&E structure and strategy.
  • Preparing weekly, monthly and quarterly internal and external reports as requested.
  • Tracking the progress of activities and outcomes as well as ensuring the tracking of relevant indicators.
  • Developing systematic mechanism for lesson learnt on the mission's programs for advocacy activities.
Requirements
The Successful Candidate Will:
  • Have at least a master's degree in project management, social sciences, health/nutrition, development or other related field with proven multi-sector project cycle management experience at a senior level for at least 2 years in an INGO.
  • Have demonstrated experience in financial management and preparation of budgets for programming as well as advisory experience in managing multiple projects.
  • Be conversant with ECHO, EU, OFDA and/or DFID reporting and regulations.
  • Have experience in managing medium to large-sized teams.
  • Have excellent written and spoken English with proficient in MS Office Applications.
  • Possess excellent organisational, interpersonal, analytical, motivational, communication, management and leadership skills.
  • Have the ability to pay attention to details and work under pressure to meet project milestones.
  • Have experience in proposal writing and donor reporting.
