Position Title: Marketing & Growth Director - Africa

  • Role Summary/Purpose:
  • The leader will be expected to drive, coach, support and manage team members in identified country specific and sub P&L critical projects. He/She will be responsible for identifying new projects, engage senior leadership of the business and regions and execute the project so to support growth and speed to market in a measurable way. Presentation skills and leadership will be critical in summarizing, identifying key drivers and report to top leadership. Market analytics also required.

  • Essential Responsibilities:
  • This is a senior global role covering Growth regions - The expectation is for the successful applicant to remain local at identified locations and fly to lead projects in specific locations. Each leader will be managing a number of projects that may be running at different pace depending on business requirements, regional needs and speed to market acceptance. It is expected that the person will be travelling extensively.
  • Active experienced and with strong leadership traits member of a virtual Center of Expertise (CoE) comprised of globally-based employees to provide support and expertise to GE’s organic growth teams
  • Support regional Growth teams and global businesses to advance local market knowledge and strategic growth initiatives. Steps will include: market and competitive intelligence, country/product assessments, customers buying behaviors segmentation and value proposition creation, development of new go-to-market strategies and business models. Opportunistic strategies to identify non organic growth steps will have to tie in. Results will be measured in speed to growth for the regional teams.
  • Create or improve marketing tools and train the local teams in their utilization to create a standardized approach. Develop local marketing talents and self to position as CMO leader for growth countries in the next 24 months.
  • Evaluation and operational recommendations to the leadership on disruptive technologies, new trends, and key product specific local requirements. Organic and inorganic funding approach, distribution strategies and partnership approaches that can enhance growth and speed to growth.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in engineering, business, marketing, or related field. MBA strongly preferred.
  • At least 10 years’ operational experience in Marketing or Market Development, driving functional tools and processes
  • Team management experience
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and team building skills; proven ability to work well in a matrix environment
  • Strategic thinker and courageous with an ability to develop and drive strategy. Ability to think expansively, innovatively and laterally in a global, complex environment.
  • Executive level presentation skills; Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Able to build a connection to key stakeholders and establish credibility quickly
