Responsibilities
  • The Nigeria Technical Manager is "first line of defense" for technical queries from the client and supports the management team onshore, offshore, and maintenance department in Houston.
  • Comply with Pacific Drilling Code of Conduct and supporting policies, standards and applicable process documentation.
  • Perform all work according to agreed expectations of both internal and external customers, focus on doing things right first time, every time and contribute actively to continual improvement activities.
  • Supports Rig Manager during meetings with the client.
  • Leads meetings with the Client for reports and explanations to events and technical issues.
  • Implementing approved MOC`s (By Houston Technical Department)
  • Initiates client requested MOC`s and liaise with Houston Technical Department for implementation.
  • Perform all work according to agreed expectations of both internal and external customers.
  • Provide technical advice and support as required by Onshore and Offshore Rig- and Operations Management.
  • Plan and organize third party activities.
  • Provide coordinated services during project execution.
  • Represent Pacific Drilling during acceptance testing of equipment as appropriate.
  • Analyze division-wide equipment breakdowns and liaise with Houston Technical Support to be able to make suggestions for maintenance timing or equipment replacement.
  • Act as intermediary between technical staff on rig, corporate technical departments, and equipment and services suppliers on technical issues.
  • Ensure that maintenance system and routines adhere to corporate standards.
  • Liaise with departments responsible for compliance related to HSE and HR legislation, finance legislation and maritime certification authorities.
  • Ensure technical staff meet company guidelines and legal and regulatory requirements, including necessary competence and certifications.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and accept onshore repairs and inspect work scope, including budgets.

Qualifications
  • Minimum Education: High School/Secondary
  • 10 years offshore experience in the maintenance department with increasing responsibilities on deep water installations, the last 5 years as head of maintenance department.
  • 5 years experience onshore in support function in offshore environment.
  • Proven track record of supervisory and English communication skills (oral and written).
  • Familiar and experienced with computer based maintenance programs for offshore drilling units.
  • Extensive training and experience with electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems on, or equivalent with offshore floating deepwater 5th or 6th generation rigs.
