Role Summary/Purpose
The Machinist will perform complicated and intricate machining tasks on various machine tools and interpret blueprints utilizing CNC or manual equipment in accordance to manufacturing and quality procedures.This role is within the Repair Services Segment of the GE Power & Water - PGS Business. The Service Centre is situated in Port Harcourt.
Responsibilities
- Inspect work completed with the use of precision gauging equipment such as thread gauges, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, stick gauges and or fixtures for compliance to internal processing requirements
- Perform miscellaneous operations involving broad machine shop experience
- Operate all types of machine tools involving close tolerance work, intricate setups and development
- Dismantle, assemble and carry out required repairs on HDGT components such as Fuel Nozzles, Liners, and TP’s
- Build parts from samples, drawings or machine
- Ensure all tasks are carried out with adherence to relevant Work Instructions and EHS requirements
- Select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines such as, lathes, drill presses and grinders
Requirements
- OND in Mechanical Engineering / Trade School Certificate
- Minimum of 5 years of machining experience
- Previous training and / or experience in HDGT Fuel Nozzle Repair
- Previous training and / or experience in welding processes
- NDT Level II Certification
- Understand complex blueprints
- Knowledge of safe use of manual or CNC equipment for assigned product lines
- Exposure in a lean manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of use of inspection equipment
- Understand all manufacturing and quality procedures associated with assigned product
- Possess adequate CNC experience
