Our client, as part of the initiatives to achieve improving its service quality and re-positioning in the industry seeks to recruit focused, energetic, results-oriented and suitably qualified professionals to fill the following positions in its composite insurance subsidiary:

The Role
Reporting to the Board ofthe insurance company, the successful candidate will serve as the principal strategy and business development executive of the company. He/she will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing short, medium and lo'ng-term strategies that will ensure the continued growth and profitability of the company in line with the vision and mission of the Group.
Specifically, the candidate will:
  • Champion the development of the company's corporate strategy, lead a facilitate management team strategic thinking, identify the company's strategic imperatives for growth, facilitate the development of new policy initiatives and provide strategic guidance and oversight to the departmental heads.
  • Conduct affairs and activities of the composite company within the framework set by the group's corporate mission, strategic plan and policies.
  • Drive the development of annual operating plans inclUding business plans, operational requirements, staffing and budgets to ensure business continuity.
  • Plan and lead the execution of market penetrating strategies aimed at attracting new business from the target sectors of the economy in line with the company's strateoic policies.
  • plan and the execution of customer satisfaction and retention strategies to ensure that the company is the insurer of choice to its clients.
  • Provide leadership to employees and motivate them for peak performance and personal growth.
  • Develop and direct the implementatio'n of the company's strategic investment plans and programmes; coordinate the positioning of the company for sustainable competitive advantcge.
  • Take full responsibility and ownmship of the company's P&L and growth, initiatives, as well as provide periodic updates to the Board on the company's financial performance.
  • Co-ordinate the business development initiatives of the company for sustainable growth and development.
  • Serve as a key brand icon for the company, creating a niche for it in the insurance sector and consistently reinforcing and promoting the corporate brand value and identity.
 
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes               
  • A good first degree in any field of study from a reputable tertiary institution. An MBA or any other higher degree will be an added advantage
  • Professional qualification(s) in Insurance (e,g. ACIIj is essential
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years' post-qualification experience, including five (5) years' experience in the insurance industry and at least five (5) yeafs' experience at executive management level
  • Excellent relationship management and strategic networking skills at the highest level in the private and public sectors
  • Strong understanding of the application of Risk management in the context of insurance businesses
  • Sound knowledge of regional and global trends in the insurance industry as well as an understanding of the key macroeconomic drivers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, marketing, planning and organization skills
