Job Position: Internal Communications Manager

Location: Lagos
 
Purpose/Context/Scope
  • Internal Communications Manager works as part of the Corporate Relations Function.
  • The Internal Communications Manager is responsible for engaging one of the Company’s key stakeholder groups – employees - behind the business strategy, setting the tone for the Company’s ongoing information sharing capacity with its employees

Purpose of Role
  •  Engage employees behind the business strategy, vision and values
  •  Release the communication potential of the leadership group through coaching
  •  Set and deliver group-wide standards and tools for internal communications
  • Active support for all elements of Corporate Relations agenda through appropriate communication interventions.
Key Accountabilities   
  • Develop and implement internal communications strategy in conjunction with the Corporate Communications Manager
  •  Measure the effectiveness of internal communications messages and channels on an ongoing basis and make recommendations to review and amend the strategy as appropriate.
  • Responsible for managing internal communications channels, including writing/editing the staff newsletter (including drafting a message from the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director), organising and drafting/editing key internal presentations.
  • Play a leading role in redeveloping and improving the intranet as a key internal communications tool
  • Play a key role in organising the annual staff conference, and manage internal communications around the Company’s Annual General Meetings.
  • Contribute to the process of copywriting, editing, designing and printing the annual report and accounts, annual review and Annual General Meeting’s publications.
  •  Work with the Information Systems function to set and maintain standards for effective email communication across the Company.
  •  Advise senior management on sensitive and complex internal communications challenges, including crisis communications issues.
  •  Represent internal communications on projects as required to ensure that project managers take note of internal communications needs. Copied: www.hotnigerianjobs.com
Qualifications
  •  Graduate calibre in the Social Sciences and Humanities.
  •  Professional Qualification in PR, marketing or journalism
  •  Minimum of 5 years experience working at a strategic level on corporate or brand related communications
  •  Proven track record of managing communication’s issues in a sensitive / controversial environment.
  •  Proven track record in developing and deploying communications strategy
  •  Capable of leading the communications planning process and facilitating broader involvement in this process.
  •  Exposure to influencing at senior management level
  • Based in Lagos with a reasonable amount of time travelling locally.

  • The role holder’s inability to exhibit the skills mentioned above can hinder success in the role.
