Description
- The Facility Engineer is responsible for broad technical oversight of the EPC contractor's facilities engineering effort. Gains alignment with the Lead Engineer on facilities engineering needs, objectives, and requirements. Facilitates interfaces among the Lead Engineer, DES / EMDC Functions, and the EPC contractor's organization with respect to facilities issues.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall facilities engineering leadership and expertise
- Gain alignment with the Lead Engineer on facilities engineering needs, objectives, and requirements
- Conduct project team member briefing sessions with respect to facilities engineering requirements and processes
- Provide the facilities engineering data (narrative, charts, graphs, etc.) required for the monthly progress report
- Authorize facilities design alternative studies, as required, to optimize project cost and schedule
- Act as single point liaison on design basis for facilities component(s) with EPC contractor
- Participate as appropriate in design/operability/constructability reviews, risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP)
- Capture and communicate facilities engineering and design lessons learned for the project
- Advise the EPC contractor's engineering and design organization with respect to:
- Contractor's facilities engineering and design procedures, processes, and deliverables
- Contractor's facilities staffing, including staffing plans, and personnel suitability and adequacy
- Steward the EPC contractor's activities with respect to facilities engineering execution including:
- Ensuring that all affected parties are familiar with engineering execution plans, procedures, objectives, and job requirements as they relate to facilities
- Ensuring that the contractor staffs the project with adequate numbers of qualified personnel
- Ensuring that the contractor employs the appropriate design tools, including computer hardware and software
- Ensuring that the contractor adheres to all appropriate specifications and standards
- Ensuring that the contractor provides all contract documents, including those referred to in the job spec
- Ensure interfaces associated with facilities project component(s) are working.
Qualifications and skills
- Extensive knowledge of facilities:
- Design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria.
- Onshore facilities and structures design, construction, and operations.
- Bachelors Degree in an engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical or Chemical.
- Experience in onshore oil and gas facilities design and operation.
- Experience in coordinating engineering contractor and claims avoidance management desired.
- Must be able to interface with others outside the Facilities Group to help determine whether or not design objectives/deliverables are being met.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs, Lotus Notes, etc.
- Read, write, and speak fluent English, especially as it applies to technical and business communications.
