The Councils major program areas are HIV&AIDS, Reproductive Health and Poverty, Gender, and Youth. Job Title: Finance Officer
Job Description
- The successful candidate will provide professional accounting support services consistent with generally accepted accounting principles.
- S/he is expected to assist in the development, implementation, monitoring and coordination of project activities as outlined hereunder.
- S/he will have responsibilities for ensuring donor grant reporting and compliance regulations are met by all the national sub-grantees and partners, amid that the Population Council’s accounting system is accurately updated.
- The officer will also assists with training on compliance, perform internal control assessments, conduct financial reviews and follow-up of audit recommendations.
Qualifications; The ideal candidate must have:
- Bachelor-level degree or Higher National Diploma in Accounting
- Professional certification or at least final level examination of ANAN, ICAN or ACCA
- Two to three years work experience in Financial accounting (especially in an NGO)
- Computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheets (MS Excel), MS Access, and Power Point presentation, and use of financial software applications such as Quick books, Peachtree Fund EZ etc.
- Good interpersonal relations skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Strong interest in development issues.
- Ability to function optimally in a cross-cultural setting with ease
