We are recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Title: Senior Contracts Engineer

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Activities
The scope of the job comprises the contract management of the Package main contract. Other contracts may also be added to the scope of the job from time to time as directed by the Project Control Manager / Project Head of contract (pending project phase).

Pre-Contract - (up to contract award)

The job holder is directly responsible for the contractual and administration aspects of the Main Contract (and any other contracts that may be directly assigned) call for tender. In doing this, the job holder will be required to:
  • Administer the tendering process to ensure the “due process” is respected and timely progress is achieved, including preparation and issuance of communication documentation with Tenderers, organisation of tender clarification meetings, organisation of tender correspondence and filing, etc
  • Liaise with the relevant Engineer in Charge on technical issues to ensure that these are adequately incorporated into the final draft contract;
  • Liaise with the Project Team members who are responsible for the relationship with NAPIMS and NCDMB to ensure these authorities are keep up to date with tender progress and developments, to obtain any necessary attendance at meetings and to obtain all necessary approvals;
  • Validate eventual Tenderer compliance with Bank Statements, Insurance and Parent Company Guarantee requirements and the likes;
  • Assist in the preparation of the Technical Recommendation Report and the Recommendation to Award;
  • Prepare final contract documents and obtain signatures for execution of the contract;
  • Close out the Pre-contract phase (e.g. storage of tender documentation and correspondence, etc).
  • To provide a professional contracting service, the job holder must pay particular attention to ensure that project procedures are strictly followed so that no contention can be raised at a later date.
  • The job holder shall also keep the Package Manager and the Project Head of Contracts and Procurement fully appraised of all developments that may impact the successful delivery of the Package Contracts.
Post-Contract - (from contract award to contract closeout)
  • The job holder is directly responsible for ensuring the Main Contract (and any other contracts that may be directly assigned) is executed in accordance with the agreed contractual terms and conditions and that Company interest is protected at all times. In doing this, the job holder will be required to:
  • Provide advice to the Company representative on contractual issues, and prepare / validate all contractual correspondence;
  • Analyse requests for change orders, and prepare / validate change order documents where appropriate;
  • Ensure all contractual certificates, guarantees, bonds and insurances required under the Contract are in place and in the due time;
  • Prepare certificates to be issued to Contractor by Company in accordance with the contract;
  • Coordinate the processing of Contractor's monthly applications for payment, and verifying invoice submissions;
  • Liaise with the Project Team members who are responsible for the relationship with NAPIMS and NCDMB to ensure all necessary approvals are obtained for change orders where appropriate;
  • Prepare contract closeout documentation in line with Company procedures.
Contracts Database
  • The job holder is responsible for maintaining a database which tracks existence and the evolution of contracts, change orders, certificates, approvals and the like during the life of the project for the main Package Contract (and any other Contracts as may be directly assigned).
Accountabilities
  • The job holder is accountable to ensure relevant procedures are followed, priorities are dealt with and documentation is fully auditable and of the required standard, leaving not contractual matters unattended.
Qualifications and Skills
  • In-depth contracts experience (minimum 15 years) in the Oil & Gas industry and preferably for deepwater type Contracts within a client organisation.
  • Good team spirit and open communication skills.
  • Well organised, diligent and proactive.
  • Good technical background will also be beneficial for the position.
