Job description
- Ensure that procedures and documentation is in accordance with relevant procedures, rules, regulations, codes, standards and specifications
- Checking of design documents
- Report non-conformities and deal with them according to existing QA procedures
- Participate in and contribute to design briefs and design documents based on specifications
- The role reports to the Engineering Manager and will be based in Lagos
Responsibilities
- Evaluate client input and comment on deviations
- Establish documentation, drawings and calculations as part of procurement specification
- Evaluate tenders from vendors
- Give technical recommendation/evaluation on vendors
- Follow up fabrication
- Establish FAT procedures.
- Progress follows up.
- Interface engineering
- Give input to Inspection, Operation, Maintenance and Repair documentation for the project
- Give installation and commissioning input to project
- Identify special tools for IMR
- Designs and directs construction of power and other hydraulic engineering projects for control and use of water: Computes and estimates rates of water flow.
- Give input to SPIR list
- Design and calculation of hydraulic systems
- Calculation of pressure drops
- Calculation of consumptions for equipment and systems
- Hands-on experience from Site work with offshore equipment
- Knowledge on BV class rules and international rules and regulations (IEC / EMC / Solas / IALA / ICAO)
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering on MS-level, or equivalent, with key expertise / interest in classical fluid mechanics, computational fluid dynamics and engineering thermodynamics.
- Minimum of 4 years experience
- Knowledge of complex pump hydraulic design, including impeller layout/volute diffuser layouts
- Familiar with computational fluid dynamics
- Knowledge of centrifugal pump applications in various industries power, petroleum, pipelines etc
- Affinity with mechanical engineering, vibro elastics, finite element analysis
- Analytical open mind to perform root cause analysis and developing practical solutions
- Good communication skills verbal and written, for reporting and internal/external presentations
- Team player, willing to share ideas with other parties
- Must be result oriented and outgoing
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
