Responsibilities
- Conduct design analysis, i.e. structural strength, buckling and fatigue analysis of structural items
- Ensure that analysis and documentation is in accordance with relevant procedures, rules, regulations, codes, standards and specifications
- Checking of design documents
- Supply interface data as required
- Take part in the preparation of documentation such as design briefs and design documents
- Prepare purchase specifications
- Follow-up with supplier
- Fatigue analysis
- Basic material knowledge
- Experience from simulations in ANSYS or similar
- STAAD / SAP2000 beam elements or similar
- Knowledge of MathCAD
- Knowledge of AutoCAD
Requirements
- Holds an engineering degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Requires four to five years design engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be result oriented and outgoing
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong mathematical ability;
- Computer literacy;
- Good grasp of physics;
- Good three-dimensional conceptual skills;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Good diagrammatic skills;
- Team working ability;
- Excellent attention to detail;
- The ability to liaise well with professionals from other disciplines;
- An interest in the design and structure of buildings.
