The Position: STORES MANAGER

Under general guidance of the General Manager Engineering, this position provides supervision and effective monitoring for APMTAL stores. Ensures that the end user departments have the parts, materials, and equipment required, while maintaining an effective control on inventory & recommending re-order levels.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Ensures that the Storeroom is maintained and operated in an efficient and organized manner, and in accordance with written procedures and good storeroom practices.
Ensures that a proper inventory control system is in place to carefully monitor stock positions, reorder levels & obsolescence of stock
Maintains and controls inventory levels so that there is neither excessive stock nor a situation where materials and equipment are not available when needed.
Supervises the daily requisitions from end user and checks the status of item requested.
Provides supervision and direction for the Stores Section.
Manages storekeeping functions from both a central & technical department perspective.
Ensures that on a daily basis the electronic database of parts and supplies is maintained.
Collaborate with Maintenance Planning and Engineering to establish specifications and to monitor quality and performance of stocks services.
Interacts with the Finance function to ensure timely delivery and payment of parts, supplies and equipment.
Provides Purchasing Manager with sufficient lead time to obtain needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
Advises General Manager, Engineering whenever a serious parts shortage or other problem arises.
Periodically, carry out audits of Stores. Produce related audit reports, evaluate findings and evaluate improvements to be implemented into the maintenance management system.
The position is primarily expected to deliver by following specific policies in the management of the stores & ensuring that inventory is maintained in a usable manner as this directly affects the terminal cash flow.
Ensures that adequate stocks of key components are maintained in the stores to ensure there is no downtime in operational activity due to lack of stock/spare parts.
The position is primarily expected to deliver by following specific company policies in the management of stores activities while setting objectives for subordinated positions.
The position is expected to deliver results in a timely manner as non delivery has a direct impact on the terminals’ ability to function.

CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

· Requires a university degree in business management, accounting, or related discipline. Some formal instruction in engineering or an engineering-related discipline is an advantage.

· Requires at least 5-7 years of stores and inventory management experience in private industry, preferably in shipping or transportation industry. In addition, must have at least 3 years of supervisory experience, directing a Storeroom staff of similar size and scope.

· Must have extensive knowledge of Storeroom practices and principles, including Stores Accounting.

· Must have some working knowledge of engineering parts, terms, drawings, and engineering specifications, and maintenance schedules and plans.

· Must have a good understanding of stores, warehousing, material control, inventory control, and the relationship among purchasing, stores, and finance activities.

· Must be able to exercise sound business judgment in order to set direction and establish priorities.

· Requires excellent supervisory skills, including planning, organizing, and directing work.

· Requires advanced verbal and written communications skills in English, in addition to effective interpersonal skills.

· Must have excellent computer working skills

· Must be Process and detail-oriented.
