The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) is the independent regulatory agency mandated by Government to monitor and regulate the electricity industry in Nigeria. The Commission is committed to promoting and ensuring efficient market structures and an investor-friendly industry to meet Nigeria's need for safe, adequate, reliable and affordable electricity.

To drive the achievement this mandate, the Commission seeks to recruit qualified professionals for vacant positions in the Office of the Chairman and its 6 specialized Divisions.

NERC is recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Title: Assistant Manager, External and Industry Relations

Location:
Any City, Nigeria

Job Description
  • The Assistant Manager, External Relations will provide support in maintaining and leveraging relationships with key stakeholders.
  • The job holder reports to the Deputy General Manager, Government External and Industry Relations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitates Commission's relationships and communication with Industry players, Government and the public in general
  • Facilitates the Commission's interactions with other Government departments on policy matters and formulate strategies to improve the Commission's relations with stakeholders and policy makers
  • Monitors the formation and implementation of Government policies in relation to the Commission's functions and responsibilities
  • Analyzes Government policies promptly and submits related report to the Commission for its consideration
  • Coordinates interaction and processing of information on activities of Successor Companies
  • Co-ordinates inter-agency activities within and outside Nigeria
  • Promotes industry coordination to ensure open and on-going communication amongst Industry Players and Stakeholders
  • Closely monitors deliberations at the National Assembly, especially as it may affect the Commission or Sector and submit prompt report to the Commission.
Qualifications and Skills
  • A first degree in any relevant, science, or art discipline
  • A post-graduate degree in public administration or related discipline will be a great advantage
  • Minimum of 6 years post-graduation experience
  • Good knowledge of the electricity industry
  • Good knowledge of stakeholder engagement
  • Must be of good discipline with high integrity
  • Able to communicate (both written and verbal) effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite
  • Good organizational skills.
