The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) is the independent regulatory agency mandated by Government to monitor and regulate the electricity industry in Nigeria. The Commission is committed to promoting and ensuring efficient market structures and an investor-friendly industry to meet Nigeria's need for safe, adequate, reliable and affordable electricity.

To drive the achievement this mandate, the Commission seeks to recruit qualified professionals for vacant positions in the Office of the Chairman and its 6 specialized Divisions.

NERC is recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Title: Principal Manager, S/F and Data Analysis

Job Description
  • The Principal Manager, S/F and Data Analysis will lead the detailed studies of the structure of the electric power consumption and demand, demand management and projects of future growth in connections, supply and demand of electricity for MYTO, Engineering and customer information.
  • The job holder reports to the Deputy General Manager Industry Studies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Leads the procedures for the development of indices and parameters for characterizing the electricity industry and procedures to obtain information/data as may be required
  • Ensures the population and statistical analysis of the information that will be contained in the information bank of the NEPI
  • Leads, organizes and coordinates surveys that will be organized in the division, targeted to a study and establishment of information required for the electricity industry
  • Produces periodic reports based on studies and analysis of information in the information system
  • Leads the detailed review and analysis of critical performance indices and parameter within the industry, e.g. efficiencies, consumption intensities, demand trends e.t.c. and bench-marks against targets indices
  • Leads the detailed studies of generation, transmission and distribution expansion plans in the context of demand projections, planning and procurement of bulk generation and trading of electricity
  • Leads the detailed studies of the structure of the electric power consumption and demand, demand management and projects of future growth in connections, supply and demand of electricity for MYTO, Engineering and customer information
  • Supports in the provision of relevant information to the statistics officers for the population of the information bank.
Qualifications and Skills
  • A first degree in Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related discipline
  • A Master's degree or professional qualification will be an advantage
  • Must be a member of a relevant professional body
  • Minimum of 15 years relevant post qualification experience
  • Well-developed research skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Numerate and analytical, in order to produce meaningful statistics; understand data and present information clearly
  • Able to use at least one statistical package (SPSS, SAS, etc.)
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Able to work with a team to deliver set targets
  • A firm grasp of the Commission's mandate and an understanding of the electricity sector in Nigeria
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.
