The
Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) is the independent regulatory agency mandated by Government to monitor and regulate the electricity industry in Nigeria. The Commission is committed to promoting and ensuring efficient market structures and an investor-friendly industry to meet Nigeria's need for safe, adequate, reliable and affordable electricity.
To drive the achievement this mandate, the Commission seeks to recruit qualified professionals for vacant positions in the Office of the Chairman and its 6 specialized Divisions.
NERC is recruiting to fill the position of:
Job Title: Senior Manager, Policy and Strategic Studies
Location: Any City, Nigeria
Job Description
- The Senior Manager will provide well researched information that would drive the Commission's strategy.
- The job holder will report to the Deputy General Manager Policy and Strategic Studies.
Key Responsibilities
- Carries out detailed review of government policies and the analysis of their impact on the electricity industry
- Develops new policies and regulatory instruments for industry improvement
- Monitors and analyses of performance of industry participants and existing regulations, and makes necessary recommendations thereof
- Develops detailed action plan for implementing energy efficiency policies and regulation.
Qualifications and Skills
- A University degree in Energy Economics, Engineering or related discipline
- A Master's degree or professional qualification will be an advantage
- Minimum of 12 years relevant post qualification experience.
- Ability to liaise with relevant Agencies and the Utility Companies
- Should have a fair knowledge of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry
- Comfortable with engaging key decision-makers in policy discussion
- Interpersonal and Influencing skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability work effectively in a politically sensitive environment.
- Ability to forge effective working relationships at senior levels both internally and externally (including the media) to influence key stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience in developing related regulations and policies
- Must be good in Microsoft office packages, such as Word, Excel and Power Point
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writing in English.
