Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) is the independent regulatory agency mandated by Government to monitor and regulate the electricity industry in Nigeria. The Commission is committed to promoting and ensuring efficient market structures and an investor-friendly industry to meet Nigeria's need for safe, adequate, reliable and affordable electricity.
To drive the achievement this mandate, the Commission seeks to recruit qualified professionals for vacant positions in the Office of the Chairman and its 6 specialized Divisions.
NERC is recruiting to fill the position of:
Job Title: Senior Manager, Distribution Standards and Compliance
Job summary:
The Senior Manager, Distribution Standards and Compliance will provide a key interface with stakeholders on electricity distribution and compliance matters. The job holder will report to the Assistant General Manager Distribution Standards Compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops and supervises processes and procedures for inspections, tests and certifications in distribution networks
- Develops standards to regulate purchase, distribution, supply and utilisation of electricity and to ensure quality, continuity and reliability of service by licensed operators
- Monitors performances of electrical systems and recommend improvements
- Develops appropriate codes of conduct and standards for the electricity distribution industry and to ensure compliance of such codes and standards
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Sound knowledge/experience in commercial issues, power purchase agreements, and electricity laws, especially in Nigeria
- Adept in the use of the computer, especially Microsoft Office suite
- A sound understanding of risk identification, analysis and management and safety management schemes
- Strong investigative, analytical and report writing skills
- Attention to detail
Educational / Professional Qualification(s)
- An Electrical Engineering degree from a recognized institution
- Must be COREN registered
Work Experience
- Minimum of 12 years post graduate experience in distribution engineering
