The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) is the independent regulatory agency mandated by Government to monitor and regulate the electricity industry in Nigeria. The Commission is committed to promoting and ensuring efficient market structures and an investor-friendly industry to meet Nigeria's need for safe, adequate, reliable and affordable electricity.

To drive the achievement this mandate, the Commission seeks to recruit qualified professionals for vacant positions in the Office of the Chairman and its 6 specialized Divisions.

Job Title: Assistant Manager, Customer Complaints Unit

Job Description
  • The Assistant Manager Customer Complaints Unit is to provide assistance and support in data acquisition and processing on Consumer issues.
  • The job holder will to the Senior Manager Customer Complaints Unit.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assists in sensitizing the public about the rights and obligation of Electricity Consumers as provided the EPSR Act 2005 and secondary legislations concerning the Consumers.
  • Updates and maintains an effective customer complaints database.
  • Carries out effective Electricity Consumer Complaints monitoring and handling.
  • Assists in identifying, investigating and following-up on systemic complaints.
  • Assists in developing and implementing of awareness and information programmes with other relevant organizations.
Qualifications and Skills
  • A University degree in Marketing, Economics, Business Administration or have an equivalent qualification.
  • A Postgraduate degree will be an added advantage.
  • Professional certification such as NIM, or equivalent is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 6 years post-graduation experience.
  • Knowledge of the Nigerian Electricity Sector.
  • Excellent knowledge of the laws that protect consumers as well as electricity safety rules and regulations in Nigeria.
  • Excellent knowledge and use of Data Management systems (Document Management Software, Customer management Software).
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Problem solving; seeking ways to improve factors that may inhibit the delivery of targets.
  • Excellent knowledge of information gathering, data collection, management and reporting.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point).
  • Works effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision in a team or alone.
  • Reputed for high integrity; a team player and a people manager.
  • A customer-orientated personality with high performance standards.
