The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) is the independent regulatory agency mandated by Government to monitor and regulate the electricity industry in Nigeria. The Commission is committed to promoting and ensuring efficient market structures and an investor-friendly industry to meet Nigeria's need for safe, adequate, reliable and affordable electricity.

To drive the achievement this mandate, the Commission seeks to recruit qualified professionals for vacant positions in the Office of the Chairman and its 6 specialized Divisions.

NERC is recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Title: Assistant Manager, Post Licensing

Job summary
The Assistant Manager, Post Licensing will handle all post-licensing issues like, amendment, extension and renewal of licenses, monitoring compliance with milestones of Licensees, assisting in organizing forum for Licensees, identifying their challenges and proffering solutions. The job holder will report to the Manager, Licensing.

Responsibilities
  • Reviews status of licensees
  • Keeps and updates register of all Licensees and liaises with the IT Unit to ensure information update on the Commission’s website
  • Liaises with the F&MS Division to collate the sum of Regulatory charges
  • Drafts Regulations required by the Commission in the performance of its regulatory functions
  • Provides legal inputs in other regulatory reviews and analysis of regulatory instruments
  • Liaises with the Office of the Gas Aggregator and Bulk Trader and any other Government Agency in dealing with post licensing issues
  • Liaises with the Legal Advisory Services and ADR/Hearing units on proceedings, hearings arising from the administration and enforcement of licensing
  • Prepares quarterly reports on the activities of the Licensing Units
  • Liaises with M (L&E) to prepare monthly reports on status of License/Permit applications
  • Supervises Analyst Post Licensing in keeping records of milestones of licensees
Requirements
  • Ability to handle routine assignments
  • Ability to manage processes and large volumes of information
  • Familiarity with industry the electricity industry
  • Understanding and cognate experience in a regulatory environment
  • Adept at using the computer, especially Microsoft Office suite
  • Data management skills
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Able to take initiative
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • A first degree in Arts, Social Sciences, Humanities or Law
  • A Master’s degree will be an advantage
  • At least 6 years post graduate experience
