The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, emergency food security, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Livelihoods and Food Security Technical Assistant
(Agriculture)

Maiduguri; Biu; Damasak; Dikwa & Monguno, Borno

Job Description
  • Together with the Livelihoods and Food Security Officer, the Assistant will be responsible for the implementation of Livelihood and food security activities in the field – food vouchers, income generating activities and backyard vegetable gardens.
  • Carry out the selection of project beneficiaries
  • Data collection for project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Coordinate the food security activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets and plans
  • Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities
  • Coordinate with relevant partners
  • Facilitate the distribution of materials and equipment according to procedures
  • Prepare weekly progress reports and other documents as required
Qualifications
  • B.Sc. Agriculture / Crop science/ Agriculture Economics
  • Knowledge of the context of Northeast Nigeria
  • Experience with start-up activities
  • Fluency in one or more of the national/regional languages (Hausa and Kanuri preferred)
  • At least one year experience of working in Food Security humanitarian/recovery context
Education field:
  • Social science
  • Education title: Bachelors' degree in Agriculture / Crop science/ Agriculture Economics

We Offer
  • Commencement: April 2018
  • Duration: 12 months
  • Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s general directions.(Grade Level 4 Step 1)
  • Duty stations: Maiduguri; Biu; Damasak; Dikwa and Monguno with frequent travels. Travel outside duty stations is dependent on changing security conditions, especially for certain roads in the area.
  • Approved health certficate will be requested before contract start.
