Job Title: Deputy Regional Food Security and Livelihoods Coordinator

Location:
Monguno, Borno

Job Summary
  • The position is based in Maiduguri, Borno and supervised by the Regional Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) Coordinator.
  • The Deputy Regional FSL Coordinator provides support to the Regional FSL Coordinator in the consolidation, development and strengthening of Action Against Hunger strategic focus and technical leadership in food security and livelihoods in the North East of Nigeria.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Support program development and ensure program quality.
  • Provide support in implementing Action Against Hunger food security and livelihoods technical strategy.
  • Develop reports on the FSL activities including developments in cash and market based approaches.
  • Provide technical support to the Project Managers and other FSL team in the implementation of Action Against Hunger project to a high quality standard.
  • Participate in overall strategic planning when required.
  • Provide technical inputs in proposal design and ensure new or adapted project focus on maximizing efficiencies, impact and integrated approaches.
  • Engage with key regional stakeholders in the coordination of activities and policies.
  • Compile and share regional reports on FSL programs.
  • Disseminate tools, research, best practices and lessons learnt internally and externally.
  • Contribute to regional level insights and data towards the development of the National Food Security and Livelihoods Strategy including cash based transfers and markets in consultation with Reg FSL co and the field team.
  • Represent the organization in external coordination, donor and technical meetings/visits on technical and operational matters.
Position Requirements
  • Advanced University degree (Masters) preferably in Management, Economics, International Development, Social Sciences (Sociology), Agricultural Economics, Agriculture and Development
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in food security and livelihoods program management.
  • Communication, diplomatic, negotiation and coordination skills.
  • Proven ability to translate analysis and evaluation into operational planning and strategy.
  • Experience in evaluations and monitoring as well as program cycle management.
  • Experience in research and partnership developments with universities
  • Experience in donor management and communications.
  • Clear understanding of child and gender protection issues at the field level.
  • Be willing to travel extensively within the region.
