The British Council is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join the organization as Services for International Education Marketing (SIEM) Project Manager.

Job Title: SIEM Project Manager

Location: Lagos

Reports to    West Africa Regional Manager - CSFP

Purpose of job:

To manage the delivery of education marketing and consultancy projects, as part of a smalll team. This role focusses on managing Services for International Education Marketing (SIEM) to effectively position the UK as a study destination of choice for Nigerian students. The role will also provide direct support to the West Africa Regional Manager for Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships Plan (CSFP).

Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:

  • The post holder will work closely with the Assistant Director – Education and will be line-managed by the West Africa Regional Manager (CSFP).
  • The holder will also have dotted line responsibility to the SIEM Regional Manager for Middle East and Africa
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Working with Assistant Director Education, the post holder will be responsible for the following

Project Management and Delivery
  • To lead the implementation of British Council Services for International Marketing with the support of a Project Officer and external delivery partners in order to meet project targets
  • To provide direct support to CSFP scholars from Nigeria and any other projects or activities required by the W.Africa Regional Manager for CSFP
  • To be the dedicated point of contact for SIEM with other project managers in SSA; MENA & UK
Financial Planning and Budget Management
  • To manage project financial elements in accordance with agreed project financial plans
  • To plan and manage project finances in coordination with country teams and regional managers. This includes the role of procurement and contract management.
Marketing and Communications and Evaluation
  • To be the dedicated point of contact with the SSA regional marcomms and evaluation team for all projects managed and to ensure the regular flow of relevant information between the operations team and the regional marcomms team and to lead media relations activity for all projects managed
  • Maintain regular contact with SIEM Communications Manager based in UAE
  • To ensure that the evaluation strategy for each project is implemented in accordance with Corporate Scorecard standards and to report likely variations from target
Performance Management
  • To contribute to the line management of the project officer(s) in order to contribute to a high performance team in accordance with Essential HR
Management of SIEM services
These include responding to client queries through offering and pricing services in marketing; consultancy and the annual exhibitions in Lagos and Abuja which specifically includes –
  • To manage exhibition financial elements in accordance with agreed project financial plans
  • To manage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders related to this project
  • To manage exhibition contract and procurement procedures in compliance BC corporate standards
  • To manage and execute the agreed marketing and communication strategy for this project
  • To plan and manage the event logistics
  • To manage the recruitment, training and performance of temporary staff working on this project
Key Relationships: The post holder will work with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external. Internal: British Council units such as Finance, programmes, etc. External: UK education institutions, Education agents, UK Regional representative officers, local private schools, public & private organisations, companies, etc.

Skills and Knowledge
  • Financial planning and management – Level 2
  • Planning and forecasting; risk management; receipts and payments process; impact of financial transactions on statutory reporting and other obligations.
  • Project & contract management – Level 2
  • Development and delivery; business and systems procedures; monitoring, evaluating and reporting; tendering and procurement
Experience
  • Experience of managing the delivery of projects with other partners
  • Experience in project management either in marketing and communication or the education sector
Qualifications
  • Degree Level Qualification
