Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) is a non-profit organization that promotes socioeconomic development by supporting global health and economic initiatives in Nigeria. AHNi currently has its headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria. Northeast Nigeria is currently, facing a growing humanitarian crisis with a vast number of Internally Displaced Persons in need of emergency assistance. These IDPs are living among host communities, lacking access to livelihoods and resources, ultimately leading to unprecedented levels of malnutrition and food insecurity. AHNI has been working in Nigeria for over 9 years and is now expanding activities in Borno state to respond to the IDP crisis.

FHI 360/AHNi is expanding its expertise by responding to this humanitarian crisis through integrated, Health and Protection interventions. To strengthen our operations and interventions in the country, we are seeking qualified candidates for the vacant position below:

Job Title: Assistant Technical Officer - Protection

Locations:
Dikwa, Ngala & Banki, Borno
Contract Type: Fixed term

Job Description
  • Assistant Technical Officer - Protection will be in charge of organizing and implementing group psychosocial activities including skills and knowledge building activities through the safe space approach.
  • S/He will also be in charge of community outreach activities aimed at increasing community awareness in gender based violence and protection issues in the community.
  • Under the supervision of the Protection Coordinator, the Protection Officer will manage all activities related to SGBV/PSS at their assigned field site.
Minimum Recruitment Standards
  • BA/BS in Social Work, Sociology, Anthropology, Communication Health, or a similar degree with 1 to 2 years' relevant experience in and psychosocial support with a sound understanding of protection in humanitarian relief settings.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian law enforcement systems and NGOs and CBOs is highly desirable.
