Responsibilities
  • The Accountant will be responsible for concerned with the maintenance and audit of business accounts and the preparation of consultant reports in finance. He /She would review existing procedures and recommending improvements in the existing system.
  • He/she would report to the Manager – Accounts.
  • Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports
  • Assist with the preparation of the monthly trial balance and comment on variances to budget and forecast
  • Take a leading role in month end close, ensuring good accounting practice and own the fixed assets register, ensuring the correct accounting treatment of all additions and disposals
  • Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of Balance Sheet reconciliations in accordance with the internal audit requirements
  • Analysing monthly revenue and cost trends and identifying opportunities to increase efficiency
  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position
  • Assist with the planning, implementing and delivery of the group audit process and the relationship with external auditors
  • Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies and proffers solutions where necessary
  • All ad hoc accounting tasks
Requirements
  • BSc in accounting, finance, economics or a related field (Masters is an added advantage)
  • ACCA, ICAN etc qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years of tax experience
  • Minimum 3 years experience in the Oil & Gas industry
  • Knowledgeable in all accounting principles and standards
  • Understands the IFRS rules
  • Have excellent communication & negotiation skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative
  • Team oriented and performance driven
