Katsina State Government has begun the recruitment of 5,000 teachers for its primary schools, saying it will be based on merit, devoid of sentiments, including political affiliation.

Chairman of the recruitment committee, Mustapha Inuwa, who spoke while monitoring the screening exercise in the state, yesterday, said every applicant for the job would be treated equally. Inuwa, who is also the Secretary to the Katsina State Government, SSG, said: “The Katsina State S-Power Committee has begun screening of candidates to recruit 5,000 primary school teachers in the state.

The exercise is being conducted in 12 centres established by the main committee of the S-Power programme. “We assured that all applicants will be treated equally irrespective of any affiliation. Let us also emphasize here that the S-Power programme would only recruit on merit. “The screening exercise is meant to get those who qualify to teach in primary schools.”
