Since 2003, Search for Common Ground (SFCG) has worked through its multi-media division, Common Ground Productions, in Nigeria, from 2004 to 2008 producing and broadcasting a TV series targeting a youth audience. In 2010, SFCG began building its engagement in Nigeria, initiating a multi-year conflict transformation program, utilising media and support to civil society in order to expand and deepen the impact of the Common Ground approach in Nigeria. SFCG has established a permanent presence in Abuja as an operational base for a number of initiatives comprising the country program.  SFCG works to support peaceful resolution of conflict in the areas of Nigeria such as the Niger Delta and Jos.

SFCG-Nigeria recently began an 18-month project which focuses on Support in Promoting Building a Peace Architecture in Jos.

Job Tiitle: Driver

Location : Jos

Summary of Position
  • The Driver will operate the SFCG-Jos Office car and to support project activities.
Responsibilities
The duties of the Driver include, but are not limited to:
  • Transport SFCG and partner staff to meetings, project sites and other official errands according to Nigeria’s driving laws
  • Verify the condition of vehicles before and after each use
  • Maintain and clean the office fleet
  • Notify the Logistics Assistant when vehicle repairs are needed
  • Keep detailed records of fuel usage
  • Correctly and routinely fill out the driving log.

Qualifications     
  • A minimum of 3 years experience as a professional driver
  • A valid Nigerian driver’s license
  • Experience maintaining and repairing vehicles to be able to anticipate problems and immediately alert the Logistics Assistant
  • The ability to travel, even on short notice
  • The willingness to work evenings and weekends
  • Fluency in English
  • The ability to identify and solve problems on an immediate basis
  • A proven track record of being punctual, reliable and respectful of confidentiality.
