Responsibilities
- The Plant Support Engineer is responsible for providing direct technical guide and support to the customer's staff on relevant operational and maintenance matters.
- Assist in determining relevant training for Customer's staff and its subsequent implementation. Train and guide any Power O&M Power Station employees, and periodically assess their ability and potential.
- Implement relevant generic POMS (Power Station Management System) and adapt POMS guidance documents to reflect the requirements of the Contract and ensure that all procedures are followed. Consider and actively develop improvement potentials for all processes.
- Comply with customer as well as Power O&M and legislative EHS requirements relevant to assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Participate in O&M experience exchange events.
- Takes over the responsibility of the Plant Support Manager in case of absence, including signing authority.
- Assist the customer in improvement of relevant operations and maintenance procedures.
- Analyse incident reports and suggest necessary actions
- Analyse operational data relating to any contractual guarantees and obligations and if necessary, recommend corrective actions.
- Advise and assist the Customer in planning and executing relevant maintenance activities and co-ordinate with the Owner/Operator and Power O&M for the preparation and planning of planned and unplanned inspection activities.
- Identify initial spare parts, control Power O&M’s buffer stock and maintain the required stock availability, ensuring the timely availability of identified spare parts, consumables and tools for planned maintenance.
- Help the customer in selecting tools and equipment required for maintenance.
- Co-ordinate between the Customer, suppliers, and ensure that the Customer is aware of all modifications and related technical matters during planned and unplanned inspections.
- Ensure that suppliers of services comply with all applicable Environmental, Health & Safety requirements
Requirements
- BSc or HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a reputable university
- A minimum of 3 years post NYSC experience in commissioning, operation or maintenance of Power Stations or equivalent facilities. 2 of which must be in gas turbine/combined cycle plants associated with either plant control or thermal block.
- Substantial knowledge of engineering practices, functions and processes involved in the operation and maintenance of a Power Station.
- Knowledge of typical legislation associated with Power Station operation and maintenance.
- An International experience would be an added advantage.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language is mandatory.
- Good organizational and negotiating skills
