Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic came into being on the 2nd of February, 1989 wide Kaduna State Edict No. 3 (subsequently amended in 2004). The Edict charged the Polytechnic to among other things provide for training and development of techniques in Applied Science, Engineering and Commerce as well as in other spheres of learning.

Requirements/Qualifications
- A holder of Master's Degree from a recognized institution with at least 9 years on the job cognate experience with proven ability for applied research and production work. Such a, candidate must have at least published a total of 5 journals and 6 conference/seminar papers.
- A holder of Doctorate Degree with at least 6 years cognate experience. Such candidate must have at least published a total of 5 journals and conference/seminar papers.
- In addition to the above, the candidate must have the ability to initiate and supervise research work and must be registered with a recognized relevant professional body.
