Nigeria LNG Limited was incorporated as a limited liability company on May 17, 1989, to harness Nigeria's vast natural gas resources and produce Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) for export. The company has a wholly-owned subsidiary, Bonny Gas Transport (BGT) Limited, which provides shipping services for NLNG and Nigeria LNG Ship Manning Limited which provides personnel for all of NLNG’s Vessels.Our LNG is delivered to ports in cities around the world.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Senior Instrument Engineer

The Job:
The appointee will be required to:
  • Maintain and renew (as required) a portfolio of DCS, safety systems and 3rd party systems critical to plant operations across LNG value chain from Gas Suppliers’ tie-in at Gas Transmission Stations (GTS) up to Condensate/LNG/LPG Ships thereby sustaining gas supplies, Condensate/LNG/LPG production and loading operations.
  • Carry out safety critical technical integrity assurance role with respect to conceptual design, detail design, construction/installation, commissioning, start-up and “run-and-maintain” of safety systems.
The Duties:
The duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Operate maintenance service contract and provide technical support on portfolio DCS, safety systems and of 3rd party systems including control system, Compressor Control System, Vibration Monitoring System, Ship Berthing and Mooring Systems, etc and ensure long term operability of all control systems under his care by planning system software upgrades and hardware rejuvenation timely with minimal impact to plant turn-around duration.
  • Maintain high availability, integrity and reliability targets of all systems and investigate reoccurring instrumentation problems (bad actors) to improve the overall reliability of the plant.
  • Improve continuously on performance of hardware by proposing (long term) strategies concerning either aspects of maintenance or aspects of obsolescence or when upgrading is otherwise beneficial to the company and identify the need for spare parts and periodic stock review concerning for all systems.
  • Operate maintenance framework to assure security of Systems on Process Control Domain and enhance systems’ integrity and provide technical input on systems tie-in, extension, design and integration of new projects e.g. pipelines (i.e. Gas Suppliers’ projects), tie-ins etc.
  • Operate budgets allocated to 3rd party systems and contribute to long term budget proposals and liaise with operations and peer engineering sections concerning issues of maintenance on any of the control systems.
  • Develop all necessary procedures and work instructions to carry out the work safely and efficiently in line with ISO standard.
  • Provide technical integrity assurance, make input to Trip Investigations, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and be actively involved in troubleshooting and defect eliminations/corrections including advice on instrument spare parts availability and stock levels.
  • Provide relevant support to 3rd party systems maintenance personnel (direct & indirect) to identify development needs and propose development schemes that will allow the individual to accomplish their work objectives.
The Person:
The right candidate should:
  • Possess a University degree (minimum of Second Class Upper) in Engineering or Sciences (Electronics/Electrical, Instrumentation, Control or Mechanical). Relevant professional certification required for the job will be added advantage.
  • Possess a minimum of 10 years post-NYSC experience; out of which 6 years must have been spent in general field automation and at least 3 years in a similar function in a reputable organization preferably an oil and gas company.
