Nigeria LNG Limited was incorporated as a limited liability company on May 17, 1989, to harness Nigeria's vast natural gas resources and produce Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) for export. The company has a wholly-owned subsidiary, Bonny Gas Transport (BGT) Limited, which provides shipping services for NLNG and Nigeria LNG Ship Manning Limited which provides personnel for all of NLNG’s Vessels.Our LNG is delivered to ports in cities around the world.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Principal Buyer

The Job:
The appointee will be required to develop and implement value adding demand management and sourcing solutions for all bought-in direct and indirect materials (excluding feed gas) in business critical (>$10M) spend categories required to fulfil Company’s contractual and statutory obligations.

The Duties:
The duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Develop, together with business areas; demand forecasts, planning and budgeting to support planned activities in the business critical spend categories within production and/or shipping activities.
  • Develop and implement the annual procurement plans within allocated business area, to procure materials required for implementation of Company activities.
  • To identify and realize opportunities for spend leverage (e.g., standardize specification, aggregate spend, re-schedule supply, aggregate sourcing, value engineering analysis etc.) across all demand areas to maximize the value from spend across categories on a life cycle basis.
  • Develop and implement category strategies and their performance management end to end from pre-award to post award in the critical business areas, to ensure benefits accruing to Company during materials sourcing and delivery are maximized for allocated categories.
  • Articulate sourcing tactics within own portfolio and contribute to development of complementary supplier base to assure availability of material requirements.
  • Prepare, and present high value and risk category submissions (strategy, enquiry and award) to Company committees (e.g. Tender Committees), with particular focus on supply chain model & risk, cost drivers, opportunities realisation and market intelligence, to obtain approvals in accordance with delegated financial authority for commitment processing.
  • Manage the workload optimization and process efficiency in the Procurement section and own portfolio, review and vet medium enquiries/orders/invoices to ensure service delivery to all business areas.
  • Appraise market conditions & supply chain risks locally and internationally for key materials, identify & fill knowledge gaps and develop synergies in support of the development of category strategies across all business areas.
  • Develop commercial negotiation framework and strategies and lead commercial negotiations with core vendors, high value and high risk project procurement deals resolving commercial disputes and claims arising from the deals. Copied: www.hotnigerianjobs.com
Qualification/Experience
The right candidate should:
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree (minimum of Second Class Upper). Membership of The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) UK or Nigeria, or Institute of Supply Management (ISM) US or equivalent at a diploma or certified level is an advantage.
  • Possess a minimum of 12 years post-NYSC experience; out of which minimum of 8 years must have been in a contracting and procurement and minimum of 4 years in a senior position in procurement or contracts service.
