Job Title: Senior Litigation Lawyer
Location: Lagos
Responsibilities
- He/she should be capable of undertaking legal research and proffering legal opinions/advice, at the right time, with respect to corporate governance and internal issues of the company as well as conflict issues between the company and third party individuals - customers, communities, vendors, suppliers etc.
- Advise Management on the approach to settlement of litigation through court, arbitration or mediation after analyzing and reviewing the strength and weakness of cases. Participate in the negotiations of the settlement of cases with communities, third party consumers, governmental regulatory authorities and all other entities. Attend all court and mediation proceedings on behalf of the company.
- Liaise with external solicitors on behalf of the company and effectively keep updates on cases in court to avoid reputational loss to the company.
- He/she should be detail oriented and a result driven team player and should be adept at communicating with people of diverse ethnic and social backgrounds.
Qualifications
- LLB Degree from a recognized university
- Post Graduate degree in Law will be an added advantage
Experience:
- A minimum of 20 years of active Litigation practice and Corporate Commercial practice in a law firm or a reputable organization.
- Proven knowledge and experience in corporate litigation.
- Knowledge of settlement of cases through Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanism
