CRS works through local church and non-church partners to implement its programs, therefore, strengthening and building the capacity of these partner organizations is fundamental to programs in every country in which CRS operates. CRS re-established presence in Nigeria in 2000 and currently focuses on vulnerable children, agriculture, health and HIV, extractives and governance, and peace building programming.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Community Resilience Team Lead

Job Summary
  • The Community Resilience Team Lead will support the Deputy Chief of Party and Chief of Party in meeting project objectives and deliverables and in providing leadership and technical guidance on resilience across this project.
  • S/he will lead the implementation of the program’s resilient strategy and actively work with all project managers to ensure all program components contribute to the planned resilient goals.
Specific Job Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Resilience Planning technical areas.
  • Lead community-led action planning and monitoring activities.
  • Develop systems for Early-Warning Systems (EWS) and conflict management.
  • Work closely with the MEAL Director to define and monitor resilience indicators across the program.
  • Work closely with the Chief of Party and the Deputy Chief of Party to identify community capacities and vulnerabilities, gaps in programming and stakeholders (public, private and not-for-profit) that could fill the identified gaps.
  • Strengthening leadership capacity at community level and linking communities to LGA and State processes.
  • Support overall technical implementation, management and general leadership for the rural development aspects of the program, with a strong focus on achieving defined results.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Master's Degree or higher in Agriculture, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields.  Specific training in rural resilience programming will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated experience in similar position (as a resilience advisor, specialist or project manager) in similar context.
  • Deep understanding of vulnerabilities and capacities of populations – including women and youth – in similar contexts.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in delivering similar projects (multi-year projects of not less than US$ 10M) in a context similar to North East Nigeria (conflict, harsh climatic conditions).
  • Spoken and written proficiency in English.  Knowledge of local languages preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and coordinate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, including national and local government, donors, community-based organizations, and the private sector;
  • Identify leverage points for new opportunities, promote appropriate collaborations, identify interventions, and scale up best practices;
  • Experience as a resilient advisor / specialist on rural programs.
  • Strong computer literacy with a full knowledge of office applications.
Required Foreign Language:
  • English fluency, including excellent oral and written skills, required.  Proficiency in Hausa or Kanuri preferred.
